- Description
- Ruins of St. Olof's church in Sigtuna. The church was one of the first stone churches in Scandinavia, as evidenced by the type of building techniques used in the older walls which date it to the early 11th century. St. Olof is none other than the Norwegian king Olaf Haraldsson who died at the battle of Stiklestad in 1030, a date which in Norway marks the end of the Viking Age.
