Schaumburg High School Saxons (IL District 211)

Title: Schaumburg High School Saxons (IL District 211)
Submitted by: TIMWATERS
Description: Opened in 1970, Schaumburg High School in Illinois is home to the Saxons, represented by the mascot “Siegie Saxon.” In medieval England, Anglo-Saxons both fought and intermingled with Scandinavian Vikings. Though historically distinct, these peoples’ identities overlap in modern popular imagery, with Siegie recalling the familiar Viking warrior of American sports culture.
